Need we say more about the liberal mind set on the United States and it’s citizens. This is what Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) stated in a radio interview on the Don Wade and Roma show on WLS 890 AM this morning.

Radio Host: So Jan Schakowsky, out of every dollar that I earn, how much do you think I deserve to keep?

Schakowsky: What is really your question here? Do you think you should not contribute to firefighters?

Radio Host: No, no, it’s a very simple question. Out of every dollar I earn, how much do you, Jan Schakowsky, think I deserve to keep?

Schakowsky: I’ll put it this way. You don’t deserve to keep all of it and it’s not a question of deserving because what government is, is those things that we decide to do together. And there are many things that we decide to do together like have our national security. Like have police and fire. What about the people that work at the National Institute of Health who are looking for a cure for cancer.

Radio Host: Okay, so let me ask you again. Out of every dollar I earn, how much do you think I deserve to keep?

Schakowsky: I am not going to give you a percentage. I don’t know how what your income is.

Radio Host: What does my income have to do with it.

Schakowksy: I think you need to pay your fair share. In order to do the things that we’ve decided are national priorities.

This is it folks. This is how liberals view the people in this nation. To them, “you don’t deserve to keep” the money that you worked hard for. Of course most everyone understands that some taxes need to be paid to cover services provided by the government, but to what extent? Liberals want to take your money because “you don’t deserve” to keep it and conservatives believe that you DO deserve to keep it and that the government doesn’t have the right to take more and more of it. You can go to the WLS 890 AM website and listen to the whole interview.

I am happy that my first post to PIN in a long time is to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defending what this wonderful country stands for. From the time when the seeds of America where first planted and the idea that freedom and liberty where deserved by all, there have been those willing to die in defense of it. As a country, we need to make sure that we do not forget the price paid by these wonderful men and women and their families. These were the words of Ronald Reagan on Memorial Day in 1983:

Memorial Day is a time to take stock of the present, reflect on the past, and renew our commitment to the future of America.

Today, as in the past, there are problems that must be solved and challenges that must be met. We can tackle them with our full strength and creativity only because we are free to work them out in our own way. We owe this freedom of choice and action to those men and women in uniform who have served this nation and its interests in time of need. In particular, we are forever indebted to those who have given their lives that we might be free.

I don’t have to tell you how fragile this precious gift of freedom is. Every time we hear, watch, or read the news, we are reminded that liberty is a rare commodity in this world.

This Memorial Day of 1983, we honor those brave Americans who died in the service of their country. I think an ancient scholar put it well when he wrote: “Let us now praise famous men . . . All these were honored in their generation, and were the glory of their times. Their bodies are buried in peace; but their name liveth for evermore.” As a tribute to their sacrifice, let us renew our resolve to remain strong enough to deter aggression, wise enough to preserve and protect our freedom, and thoughtful enough to promote lasting peace throughout the world.

Lets make sure this weekend as we barbecue, gather with friends and enjoy the extra day off, to remember those who made it possible. As I wrote in a post a while ago titled “These Colors Never Run”, these American patriots proved that. We must now honor their legacy and sacrifice by understanding that freedom is not free, evil does exist and the fight changes, but always continues.

Rational Nation USA
Birthplace of Independent Conservatism

This is America. We are an English speaking nation. We have distinct and traditional American cultural values. We have some Americans in our population who have difficulty speaking a coherent sentence. We have many who cannot construct a complete and proper sentence.

Yet we find the time and the money to educate youth in Arabic and Arabic culture. Mind you this is a Federal Grant program and limited to only five select school districts. At least for now. At a cost of 1.3 millions dollars students on these select district will be required, you heard {read} right, required as mandatory part of their curriculum to learn Arabic.

This is a blatant abuse of taxpayer money, and it is indicative of the future course our nation has embarked upon under the fuzzy, misguided, and incredibly deceitful anti leadership of the current occupant of the Peoples House and Impostor in Chief.

Excepts from CBSDFW on this breaking story.

Some Students at Mansfield ISD schools could soon be learning Arabic as a required language. The school district wants students at select schools to take Arabic language and culture classes as part of a federally funded grant.

The Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grant was awarded to Mansfield ISD last summer by the U.S. Department of Education.

As part of the five-year $1.3 million grant, Arabic classes would be mandatory at Cross Timbers Intermediate School and Kenneth Davis Elementary School. The program would also be optional for students at T. A. Howard Middle School and Summit High School.

Parents at Cross Timbers say they were caught off-guard by the program, and were surprised the district only told them about it in a meeting Monday night between parents and Mansfield ISD Superintendent Bob Morrison.

The DOE has identified Arabic as a ‘language of the future.’ But parent Joseph Balson was frustrated by the past. “Why are we just now finding out about it?” asked Balson. “It’s them (Mansfield ISD) applying for the grant, getting it approved and them now saying they’ll go back and change it only when they were caught trying to implement this plan without parents knowing about it.”

The parents not informed until after the fact. Definite Obama administration tactics. The President that has claimed he would have transparency has proven yet again secrecy in the pursuit of his ends is his administration’s modus operandi. This, and I will call it “pilot program” is very likely to grow legs and spread like the pox.

In addition to mandatory Arabic the program also teaches Arabic cultural issues.

Mansfield ISD says in addition to language, the grant provides culture, government, art, traditions and history as part of the curriculum.

Some parents had concerns over religion. “The school doesn’t teach Christianity, so I don’t want them teaching Islam,”…..

Watch the VIDEO:

http://video.dallas.cbslocal.com/global/video/popup/pop_playerLaunch.asp?vt1=v&clipFormat=flv&clipId1=5544508&at1=News&h1=Mandatory Arabic Classes Coming To Mansfield&flvUri=&partnerclipid=

Or try this {if it works} as Word Press is a poor excuse for an editor. Blogger is MUCH more user friendly!

When will the assault by the current administration end? The federal government, or any arm of it, has the right to force feed any language or cultural traditions down the throats of students other than English and American traditions.

A retired special education teacher on his way to a wedding in Orlando, Fla., said he was left humiliated, crying and covered with his own urine after an enhanced pat-down by TSA officers recently at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

“I was absolutely humiliated, I couldn’t even speak,” said Thomas D. “Tom” Sawyer, 61, of Lansing, Mich.

Sawyer is a bladder cancer survivor who now wears a urostomy bag, which collects his urine from a stoma, or opening in his stomach. “I have to wear special clothes and in order to mount the bag I have to seal a wafer to my stomach and then attach the bag. If the seal is broken, urine can leak all over my body and clothes.”

On Nov. 7, Sawyer said he went through the security scanner at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. “Evidently the scanner picked up on my urostomy bag, because I was chosen for a pat-down procedure.”

Due to his medical condition, Sawyer asked to be screened in private. “One officer looked at another, rolled his eyes and said that they really didn’t have any place to take me,” said Sawyer. “After I said again that I’d like privacy, they took me to an office.”

Sawyer wears pants two sizes too large in order to accommodate the medical equipment he wears. He’d taken off his belt to go through the scanner and once in the office with security personnel, his pants fell down around his ankles. “I had to ask twice if it was OK to pull up my shorts,” said Sawyer, “And every time I tried to tell them about my medical condition, they said they didn’t need to know about that.”

Excerpts from Politico:

With two weeks remaining until Election Day, the political map has expanded to put Democrats on the run across the country – with 99 Democratic-held House seats now in play, according to a POLITICO analysis, and Republicans well in reach of retaking the House.

It’s a dramatic departure from the outlook one year ago – and a broader landscape than even just prior to the summer congressional recess. As recently as early September, many Republicans were hesitant to talk about winning a majority for fear of overreaching.

Today, however, the non-partisan Cook Political Report predicts a GOP net gain of at least 40 House seats, with 90 Democratic seats in total rated as competitive or likely Republican.

“When Chairman [Pete] Sessions and Leader [John] Boehner said that 100 House seats were in play, Democrats scoffed,” said Ken Spain, the National Republican Congressional Committee’s communications director. “Today, they aren’t laughing anymore.”

The number of Democrats in danger is more than double the 39 seats Republicans need to seize control of the House. It reflects an elastic electoral environment that favors the GOP by every measure: money, momentum and mood of the country — in this case, sour on Democratic incumbents.

For Democrats, a deteriorating political environment – unemployment high, President Barack Obama’s approval ratings low — has been exacerbated by the presence of cash-flush, independent conservative groups that have poured huge sums of money into races.

The groups, including American Crossroads, have combined with the National Republican Congressional Committee to stretch the boundaries of the 2010 map into races where there’s even a scent of Democratic vulnerability.

“This year is shaping up to be something of a repeat of the 52-seat House and eight-seat Senate rout of Democrats in 1994,” handicapper Charlie Cook wrote last week. “Sure, the circumstances and dynamics are different from then, but the outcome seems to be shaping up along the same lines.”

At one time, there was serious doubt the GOP would have the financial resources to compete effectively for the House majority. The thinking was that scores of potential opportunities could go unexplored due to the cash disparity between the NRCC and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

While the NRCC still trails in cash on hand, its fundraising has picked up…

With potentially 100 seats in play the 2010 mid terms could be shaping up to be a blood bath for the Democrats. With two weeks to go, and the momentum definitely moving in the direction to unseat entrenched Democrats, now is the time to step up the pressure, increase the intensity, and really take the fight to progressive candidates.

Always the rebel, and always right, I find it interesting the web recently is relatively silent on the goings on in Mexico and the possible effect it could have on the Southwest United States. More specifically the Mexican Drug Cartels and their activity to protect their distribution activity to the U.S.A.

I find it interesting that intelligent and reasoned individuals apparently overlook the obvious answer to this problem. My “independent conservative” take on this is most chose to do so. Possibly blinded by their belief in the “Virtues of the War on Drugs.” I challenge anyone who believes the “War on Drugs” has been a success to point to the EVIDENCE of this.

In fact the “War on Drugs” has, if anything, been a dismal failure costing American taxpayers untold millions if not billions of dollars in its execution. But the believers in “Big Government” an it’s ability to rectify social ills persist in spending your hard earned dollars in their efforts to correct this “societal ill.” As an example of this madness check out this link to Human Events

Okay all you supposed conservatives I have just given you the ammo to blast me as a closet liberal. The problem is I freely admit to being a “Classical Liberal.” Look the definition up if in doubt as to what that means. Because I am an “independent conservative” I personify that whick “Classical Liberalism” stood for… Two hundred and thirty four years ago.

My apologies, I have once again digressed. The “War on Drugs” has failed and will continue to fail. The cost passed on to the public the result of the “Big Government’s” attempt to protect society against itself will only continue to rise as the failures continue to mount.

The answer is so simple, so straight forward, so liberating. Legalize, tax those who chose to purchase recreational drugs, and use the revenues for drug education and treatment. Let those who make the decision to use drugs pay for their decision up front but don’t criminalize them for doing so.

There will always be a demand for drugs. Current law and drug enforcement efforts have merely created a huge profitable billion dollar illicit enterprise. Americans can either chose to perpetuate the madness or engage in enacting the solution. What will it be?

In the process of deciding recall if you will “Prohibition.” And its historic dismal failure.

Rational Nation USA

Yesterday First Lady Michelle Obama proved yet once again the audacity of both herself and husband President Barrack Hussein Obama. While inside an Illinois polling place to cast an early ballot she engaged in a bit of politicking on behalf of her husband.

It is against Illinois election law to engage in electioneering or campaigning within 100 feet of a polling place.

Drudge reported:

First lady Michelle Obama appears to have violated Illinois law — when she engaged in political discussion at a polling place!

The drama began after Mrs. Obama stopped off at the Martin Luther King Center on the south side of Chicago to cast an early vote.

After finishing at the machine, Obama went back to the desk and handed in her voting key.

She let voters including electrician Dennis Campbell, 56, take some photos.

“She was telling me how important it was to vote to keep her husband’s agenda going,” Campbell said.

According to a pool reporter from the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES at the scene, the conversation took place INSIDE the voting center, not far from the booths.

Illinois state law — Sec. 17-29 (a) — states: “No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place [or] within 100 feet of any polling place.”

A top Ilinois State Board of Elections official tells the DRUDGE REPORT that Mrs. Obama — a Harvard-educated lawyer — may have simply been ignorant of the law and thus violated it unintentionally.

“You kind of have to drop the standard for the first lady, right?” the official explained late Thursday. “I mean, she’s pretty well liked and probably doesn’t know what she’s doing.”

WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS ELECTIONEERING

When questioned about the brazen nature of Mrs. Obama’s campaigning, press secretary Robert Gibbs defended the action.

“I don’t think it would be much to imagine, the First Lady might support her husband’s agenda,” Gibbs smiled.

Developing…

It would appear that the FLOTUS is above the law. A Harvard lawyer may have just been ignorant of the law? Even for the most naive this is a stretch. Further, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Or so we all thought.

Of course because we are talking about the FLOTUS standards (the law) apparently have to be lowered to accommodate her lofty position in society. After all she is well liked and apparently doesn’t know what she is doing, right?!?

Of course the babbler in charge Gibbs was quick to rush to the defense of the privileged one(s). Another confirmation this President and First Lady see themselves as above the law.

The proper course for the First Lady would be to acknowledge her mistake, accept full responsibility, and suffer whatever Illinois law meets out to those who violate election law. Leadership requires that the standards are set higher for those leading, not lower.

I guess for the Obama’s we are to make exceptions.

It is not unusual to see nearly a half a million signing up for unemployment benefits on a single week. People keep asking, “Why doesn’t the government do something about it?” It is a fair question. However, a better question is “What causes unemployment?” The failure to understand this is why the American people continue to stand on the sidelines of government’s policy battles as victims of plans that have gone awry. There are many factors to both job creation and job loss. This article will focus on some of the more obvious ones.

We all know that if there was no cost to hiring people, there would be no unemployment. But there are costs, some natural and some of them government created. In a world without government, the only cost would be the price that an employer would be willing to spend and employee would be willing to receive in exchange. If there were no wage limits set by the government, no payroll tax for employers in hiring, and no negative government intervention in other areas of market exchange, it is safe to assume we would generally have near full unemployment. Therefore, every time there is a cost to hiring outside of the voluntary relationship between employers and employees, there is a barrier to job creation.

• Minimum wage is one of the more obvious job deterrents. Companies hire based on the value of the work to be done and not the person doing it. If it costs more to hire someone than the job is worth, the job will not exist. That is just reality. Interestingly, there has been a huge jump in unemployment every July for the last three years following an increase in the minimum wage. Ironically, those hit the hardest by minimum wage generated unemployment are the same ones who were suppose to benefit from such artificial increases – minorities and youth. Minimum wage is a serious job killer.
• Taxes on corporations and businesses. The most frustrating aspect of these taxes is that they are a mere fixed cost of doing business. If the costs become too high, businesses move their companies – and the jobs they create – to other parts of the world. Eliminate this barrier to job creation, tax individuals directly through their purchases, and enjoy a more fiscally sound and accountable government.
• Reform regulatory and licensure laws. These are both common barriers to job creation, particularly regulations. The Federal Register of Regulations is a source of nightmares for businesses of all sizes. Everyday business owners live in fear of violating the law, which puts pressures on them to have as few employees as humanly possible. The recent health care law of the Obama administration is a shining example of this. According to attorney Judith Sadler, a Price of Business Radio Show Contributor, among the perplex provisions in the legislation is a requirement that companies with fifty are more employees must have a designated room in their offices just for breastfeeding, regardless if there is a need for such. “Fifty employees” is often the threshold for many regulations. The vast majority of businesses (approximately 80 percent) have fewer than 50 employees; this is not only because of the virtues of small business, but the fear of being too successful in the eyes of the government.

These are just a few of the things that stand between Americans and jobs. Ronald Reagan once said that the best “social program is a job.” That type of “social program” provides revenue to the government in the form of taxation, rather than consumes money when people are on the dole. The government should get out of the way and let the job creating economic engine roar.

If Obama and Congressional leaders were serious about job creation, they would take a decidedly different approach. The following are just a few suggestions:

Eliminate the barriers between people and jobs. This isn’t done through temporary government jobs that will run out with the recent bailouts (like the bill passed this week), but through real jobs that create revenue for them to grow in number and in quality. Although I oppose a federal minimum wage, you are not going to make one go away. However, the federal government could mandate that each state have its own minimum wage law and allow them to set it based on the needs of the people and the cities. This would not cost the federal government a penny, but would spur economic activity immediately. Certain cities, such as Camden (New Jersey), East St. Louis (Illinois), and Detroit each suffer from an unemployment of around 20 percent. they need help like this immediately. In addition to creating jobs and solving employment problems where they are — locally — it would also help to restore the Federalism system that helped make this country great.

Since businesses do not pay taxes (they are only tax collectors through higher prices or lower quality products), we should eliminating taxes on them. Taxes are simply a fixed cost for doing business, nothing more. If taxes are too high, businesses have no choice, but move to other countries where the rate is less so they can lower prices and be more competitive. Businesses do not take these actions because they are not patriotic. In the words of The Godfather, “it isn’t personal, it’s just business.” Eliminating taxes on business would have a profound impact on high quality job creation. This policy would also encourage an increase in productivity and soften the blow of inflation. Finally and, maybe most importantly, it would help restore honest government when the voters face the brunt of the taxes directly.

Ending taxes on wealth (and job) creation and replace income tax with a sales tax. This would eliminate the economic genocide against job creators we are seeing today and would more fairly spread the financial burden of government on all economic groups. If every economic group shared the burden of funding the government, that would encourage all groups to make government fiscally accountable.

The “band aid” approach of bailouts and short term fixes are only making our situation worse. There is a root cause to our current economic situation. Employing the strategies above would put the United States on the fast track for recovery and would lead to a more accountable government.

President Barack Obama has consistently defended the quality of the spending that has taken place in the stimulus package. He has repeatedly told voters how impressed he is that there has been so little waste in the spending. “If there has been any waste,” it was “miniscule,” according to the Administration.

Senators Tom Coburn (R-OK) and John McCain (R-AZ) beg to differ and do so in a recent report they released entitled “Summertime Blues,” in which they examine widespread waste in the various stimulus programs. This is the third in a series and in this most recent report they write: “Eighteen months since the passage of the stimulus bill, millions of jobs are still gone and the economy is as uncertain as ever. The only thing getting a boost is our national debt. The stimulus has helped push it 23 percent higher, to $13.2 trillion, a new record.” Coburn went on to talk about the specifics of the waste, saying that he “expected to get criticism for pointing out ‘stupid and inappropriate” expenditures from the 2009 stimulus bill, whose cost is now estimated at $862 billion.”

Here are a few examples of the incredible numbers:

• $554,763 for the Forest Service to replace windows in a closed visitor center at Mount St. Helens

• $762,372 to create “Dance Draw” interactive dance software

• $62 million for a tunnel to nowhere in Pittsburgh, PA that even Governor, Ed Rendell called “a tragic mistake”

• $1.9 million for international ant research

• $1.8 million for a road project that is threatening a pastor’s home

• $308 million for a joint clean energy venture with…BP

• $89,298 to replace a new sidewalk that leads to a ditch in Boynton, OK

• $3.8 million for a “streetscaping” project that has reduced traffic and caused a business to fire two employees

• $16 million to help Boeing to clean up an environmental mess it created in 2007

• $200,000 to help Siberian communities lobby Russian policy makers

• $39.7 million to upgrade the statehouse and political offices in Topeka, Kansas

• $760,000 to Georgia Tech to study improvised music

• $700,000 to study why monkeys respond negatively to inequity

• $193,956 to study voter perceptions of the economic stimulus

• $363,760 to help NIH promote the positive impacts of stimulus projects

• $456,663 to study the circulation of Neptune’s atmosphere

• $529,648 to study the effects of local populations on the environment…in the Himalayas

The waste is not so small that is is “difficult to measure,” as apologists for the President would claim, but so obvious that every politician that has supported such programs should fear for their political lives.
