OUCH! Steve Hildebrand, one of the top campaign aides for President Obama in 2008, is quoted as saying:
“I think that there is a real shot we are going to get slaughtered in elections this fall if we aren’t leading the efforts to reform Washington. We campaigned in ’06 and ’08, and if voters don’t see that change, we haven’t lived up to that promise.”
Hildebrand made these comments to CNN.
Although Hildebrand was part of the 2008 campaign, he did not take any positions in Obama’s White House. His current focus is pushing Congress to get an outside watchdog agency to attend to ethics violations, and had even met with David Axelrod to speak about such a push. He really wants Democrats to do more in relation to this.
“We went after that culture of corruption, and I don’t believe there is a culture of corruption, but I do believe there is an image problem that Washington in general has to deal with. And Democrats are in trouble now and if they don’t do anything.”
Um, sorry Steve, but have you been keeping track of who’s having ethics probes being done on them recently?
