Senator Alexander Backs Obama into a Corner at Health Care Summit
The undocumented President Obama’s Health Care Summit is well underway at the Blair House in Washington, D.C. and Republicans are using the forum to highlight the terrible parts of the bill that was written in closed-door, backdoor sessions similar to a Politburo. Senator Lamar Alexander (R – TN) came out swinging against Obama’s health care plan and how it includes too many new taxes and cuts Medicare in the Republican opening session. But the question that gave Obama a blank face was when Alexander asked the president to renounce reconciliation for passing the bill.
President Obama cut-off the Senator when he said the bill would increase individual premiums, based on a report from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. He responded, “No, no, no.” But Obama didn’t answer the reconciliation question.
Senator Alexander handed Obama and the Democrats their lunch with this question. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid responded defensively, accusing Republicans of using reconciliation, or the Nuclear option, a majority of the time since it was created. However, Republicans didn’t use reconciliation to nationalize one-sixth of the economy.
Just last week Harry Reid was quoted saying that health care reform would be passed in 60 days through reconciliation. Reid, today, attacked Alexander saying that reconciliation wasn’t the only option and accused him of lying, despite Reid’s claim last week.
“Again, Lamar, you’re entitled to your opinion but not to your own facts.”
Reid claimed that,
“No one has said – I read what the president has online – no one has talked about reconciliation, but that’s what you folks have talked about, ever since that came out, as if it’s something that has never been done before.”
At least the American people are able to see first hand the lies that Democrats are using to defend their health care bill. Want more hypocrisy? Rewind back to 2005 and you can see the eel Harry Reid, Vice Idiot Joe Biden, Charles ‘Schmucky‘ Schumer and Diane Franken Feinstein all attacking Bush and the Republicans for using reconciliation to stop a filibuster.
Senator Alexander put these liberals in their place and finally everyone could see it. Transparency anyone?
