Ryan Sorba, from the Young Americans for Freedom organization’s California chapter, was booed off the stage tonight at CPAC, for deriding CPAC’s choice to have GOProud attend CPAC, even going so far as to say he “condemns CPAC”. Not the sort of thing one would say when invited to speak at the biggest gathering of Conservatives who look to CPAC for guidance and networking.
GOProud is, in their own words:
GOProud represents gay conservatives and their allies. GOProud is committed to a traditional conservative agenda that emphasizes limited government, individual liberty, free markets and a confident foreign policy. GOProud promotes our traditional conservative agenda by influencing politics and policy at the federal level.
Watch for yourselves.
Homophobic-CPAC-Speaker-Booed-O
Just like not all liberals are for abortion, not all Conservatives are against homosexuality. CPAC is a place for Conservative Thought, and is attended by folks who share the common denominator of Conservative Thought, albeit in varying shades and flavors. Mr. Sorba picked a heck of a place to grandstand, and I am most sure that his words will be used as a weapon against all Conservatives, except for the members of GOProud, of course. Freedom of Speech is still Freedom of Speech, though.
I really don’t think he’ll be asked to speak next year. Um, no.

I am proud of Ryan for speaking out on his beliefs. Homosexuality is wrong and to call him a homophobic is uncalled for. I would have hoped that conservatism walked hand in hand with Christianity, since our rights are God given and not man made. There is no room for homosexuality anywhere in the Kingdom of Heaven. Ryan certainly had the right to speak his heart without boos and condemnation. Isn’t it peculiar that those that seek to go outside the boundaries of “normal” human behavior is granted more respect than an individual that upholds God’s laws.
Homosexuaity is wrong? How can the way God made you be condemned? If a homosexual is a conservative then he/she has every right to be at CPAC. It’s time to realize that homosexuality is NOT a choice. As Jesus said, “Love one another.” He didn’t say, “Condemn one another.” Read the new testament.
I choose to hate the sin, and love the sinner. In the end whatever god you choose to follow will determine your enterance into the afterlife.
You people with your “Gods” and “after lives.” Good grief. Just what evidence do you have that God exists? The Bible? The bible was written by MEN for other MEN for the express purpose of controlling them and, by extension, society. It’s no more the word of God than my words are on this page.
There is no God. When you die you will turn back into carbon and hydrogen and water. So will I. That is how life works. Life is a beautiful, amazing and INCREDIBLE journey. Enjoy it! Be good to yourselves, be better to others and appreciate every day that you’re here. And quit worrying about judging others because you’re concerned about your place in “heaven!”
“I choose to hate the sin, and love the sinner.”
Well, good for you, but last time I checked, as a non-Christian, what you consider to be “sin” has nothing to do with me as an American. Please keep me out of it. Thanks!
Mr. Sorba is a child, essentially he inserted his unsolicited opinion and acted not unlike a liberal by disrespecting the conference that brought him there, and interjecting his opinion about homosexuals. We are a society of laws, and last time I checked the first amendment protects everyone from religious views that attempt to control how we lead out life. And his argument is bullshit, if the only logical reason for sex is reproduction and not primordial, then he can never 1) masturbate again, 2) have sex with a condom or any means of birth control, 3) have sex with anyone that is using birth control, or 4) have oral sex, 5) anal sex, or 6) have sex outside of the missionary position. Because according to him the only reason to have sex is to procreate and not because it as an act is enjoyable.
If any of you would actually bother to read Ryan’s material, you would find that his argument is not based in ideology/Christianity/religion of any kind. It is based on scientific, anthropological research. His history of the “movement” is fascinating and confirms the cult-like approach the GLBT community uses to justify their normalcy. You are not born gay anymore than you are born a murderer or a rapist or a pedophile or an adulterer or a liar. It is a weakness, a torment, a temptation to follow and most of us choose not to even if we are tempted. Most of us don’t surround ourselves with people who tell us it is okay to take things we want if it isn’t ours. A purse left behind may tempt us but morals tell us it is wrong and we should return it to the person who left it. I could just as easily argue that is merely a Christian view and I should be able to keep whatever money or valuables are inside because I want it. God wouldn’t have made me want it if it was wrong. But the fact is that God gave us free choice and there are many temptations. Homosexuality is no greater a sin than lies or theft or adultery but it is no less a moral wrong just because you have had that desire your whole life.
