Obama taking populist tone in fight over jobs

Knowing he has lost tons of American support, (unless you’re brain-dead and convinced America hates Obama because he’s black), Obama has switched gears to tackle his new flavor-of-the-month:  jobs.  But this isn’t really about what’s best for America, nooooo.  This is about the old tried-and-true battle between Dems and Republicans.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is shifting his administration’s emphasis to battling unemployment, the scourge that is hurting households nationwide and threatening to inflict heavy losses on Democrats in November’s elections.

In the process, he and his allies in Congress intend to force Republicans, through a series of upcoming votes, to choose between Wall Street’s high fliers and Main Street’s middle-class workers. With Democrats struggling to deliver on big promises such as overhauling health care, they hope their increasingly populist tone _coupled with Republican resistance to two Democratic-crafted, deficit-reduction proposals — will prevent wavering voters from drifting to the GOP.

That pesky GOP!  When will they stop being such an obstructionist bunch of racists and fat-cat big wigs from Wall Street, and look out for the little people, like the Dems do in all their compassion and graciousness?

The shift in focus is not necessarily a death knell for the health care push. House and Senate Democratic leaders are trying to persuade colleagues to pass the contentious package despite fierce GOP opposition and polls that show substantial public dislike.

So if not for fierce GOP opposition and what, um, substantial public dislike, (ahem), then your Socialist health care package would have gone through?  Very interesting.

For now, at least, the legislative leaders seem content for Obama to remain fairly quiet while they work behind closed doors. If they can move the health care package close to the finish line in the next few weeks, they may call on him to buttonhole enough lawmakers for a final push.

Good thing they have closed-door meetings!  If not, I wonder how much would actually get done in the best interest of The People?  And here’s hoping that Obama can muster up a final push to get enough votes to enslave America with his progressive health care.  I thought his tone had changed to a more populist one?

White House officials and Democratic lawmakers described a strategy to put Republicans on the spot by scheduling regular votes on jobs, financial regulation and other matters that fall in line with the Democrats’ populist message.

The strategy is meant to put Republicans in a box. They can vote with Democrats on items such as imposing a fee on big banks that received public bailout money. Or they can oppose such measures and risk being painted as protectors of big banks and stock traders rather than working-class Americans.

Some populist message.  Again, this is nothing more than the Dems seeking to put the GOP at odds with America.

Someone come get me when it stops being about power to the Party and back to power to The People.

  1. D.Ellison says:

It is a sad thing indeed to realize that the Democrat majority in BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS put Republicans in a box, from the very beginning.

    1. There are not enough Republicans in the House or Senate to have stopped any of Obama’s job-killing agenda items.

    2. There are reasonable Democrats who actually listen to the folks back home and know their jobs are on the line if these Socialist laws get passed.

    3. Those being bribed to vote yes for these Socialist laws, in Congress, were the people identified in item number 2.

    4. The Democrats are trying to get the American public to think that the Republicans with their tiny little minority in the Senate ACTUALLY stopped ALL THE BILLS THAT WOULD HAVE ADDED JOBS TO THE ECONOMY, but the Democrats are now going to do something — but they won’t actually say what that something is.

    5. If the populist Democrats along with the conservative Democrats can pass enormous spending and entitlements, but they can’t pass something that THEY INSIST EVERY AMERICAN REALLY REALLY WANTS — then they are inept, stupid, or there is a kink somewhere in the Democrats majority.

    6. Only reason the JOBS BILL passed is because all of those people mentioned in item number 2, get to add, as do any other Democrat who wants a finger in the Stimulus—I mean Jobs bill—pie, an earmark of whatever the folks back home are clamoring for and are in desperate need of — 1 million for like a new park for retired pigeons; maybe 200 thousand for a water fountain so the new homeless people to wash in; could be a research project for 2 billion to study why some people have all the luck; how about a study for 4 to 5 billion to actually prove Obama really is an alien from Mars.

When will the American people realize that this is just another scam to try and keep Obama and his socialist agenda alive and living the lie.

“If I say it enough it becomes the truth.”
