These are just some of the recent news articles from around the world on current weather conditions.  I live in an area that just had record snowfall for the month of December.  We still have 7-10 ft snow piles in certain areas, but we are told to believe that we are the cause of global warming.  The earth is on such a catastrophic warming path according to some that we need to get rid of cars, especially those nasty SUV’s, outlaw black cars, pass laws to force people to paint the roofs of their houses white, regulate what kind of light bulb you can purchase, update your house to make it “green”, get rid of pets and now you even have some claiming that we need to restrict population growth and should limit the number of children a couple can have.  To top it all off the The Environmental Protection Agency has formally declared carbon dioxide as a threat to human health and welfare and this sets the stage for the Obama Administration and Congress to try and regulate how we live and work.

The father of the human-caused global warming movement, Al Gore, recently enlightened us with this quote on the Tonight Show when talking about geothermal energy, ” but two kilometers or so down in most places there are these incredibly hot rocks, ’cause the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees, and the crust of the earth is hot …”.  The earth’s core is several million degrees?   The temperature of the earth’s core can only be estimated and those range from 4000-6000° C (9000° F) not several million degrees.  The outer layer of the sun is about 6,000°C (11,000°F) and the core of the sun is about 15,000,000° C (27,000,000° F).  Someone please let Al Gore know that if the earth had a core that was several million degrees, we would be a star, not a planet and there would be no life here.

This is only one of Al Gore’s many ”convenient untruths”.  This of course comes on the heels of Climategate, in which we found out that leading global warming scientists have been manipulating data to hide information that may prove they are wrong.  These are people that very clearly just make things up to try and convince others to join their cause.  Why on God’s green earth do people still listen to Al Gore and why do they still want to follow those who have deceived them?  I find it absolutely astounding that people take it hook, line and sinker without thinking for themselves.

There are many scientist out there who dispute the facts used by the “humans cause global warming” crowd, but I am not one of them.  I only know a little about the earth, the sun and our weather patterns, but I do have common sense.  I know that the sun has A LOT to do with how our world operates.  In addition to the earth’s placement to the sun, the earth’s position within our solar system has an effect, as well as the position of our solar system within the Milky Way Galaxy and it’s position within the Local Group where we (the Milky Way) move in concert with other galaxies.  Wouldn’t this all have an effect on our planet?  Long before we started to inhabit it with our carbon dioxide breathing bodies, the earth went through cycles of warming and cooling and continues to do so.

The recent United Nations Climate Conference in Copenhagen was a joke first because in the process of crying wolf about global warming, Copenhagen received 4 inches of snow and had record low temperatures for December, and second because it was all about money.  Not to mention it was another platform for Hugo Chavez to get up and denounce capitalism and the U.S. to the arousing applause of everyone there.  I would like to know what the carbon footprint of those 12 days were.  I am sure the U.N. just bought some carbon credits from Al Gore’s company to make the earth right again.  That is what makes this so preposterous.  It’s okay to spew out more of that nasty carbon dioxide, just pay for some carbon credits and we’ll wipe your slate clean.

I think a new movement should be started called “Go Blue”.  The Green movement and “Go Green” has become completely about blaming man for the all the environmental problems on the earth and telling you what you can do to fix it.   I, like many, recycle, believe in conservation and want to leave the earth a clean and beautiful place, but don’t buy into the green movement.  On a mood ring, blue means calm, relaxed and optimistic.  It is the color of the sky and the water and it is associated with depth, wisdom and stability.   So I say, stay calm, be smart, be optimistic and think clearly.  We can conserve, preserve and recycle while we drill, drive, fly, light, heat and cool our homes, own a pet, have lots of kids and breath.  Go Blue.

I like it. I like it a lot.

It makes sense. Like most Conservatives I know, I also recycle (it just makes sense), I don’t endorse dumping toxic waste into streams and rivers, I keep my thermostat at 63 degrees during the Winter (living in CT this is sometimes difficult, but wearing sweatshirts and cuddling on the couch is a small price to pay), and I honestly do not wish for the planet I reside on to go to pot. In other words, I don’t want Earth to be ruined.

Miss Kelli, please know I will be re-posting some of your words on my blog. As always, you just have a way of saying things that make sense. I’m so envious.

As a believer in Science, I can appreciate the history of Humanity’s scientific progress. In the relatively recent past, human kind has undergone several huge developments and paradigm shifts in our thinking about the science. Quantum Mechanics, General and Special Relativity, the Big Bang among others. These concepts are fully accepted today as fundamental truths about our understanding of the nature the Universe. Yet these ideas were challenged openly and rigorously within the Scientific communities as well as in the public arena. Only when Scientific testing proved the results of these concepts as irrefutable and more importantly, repeatable by others, were they embraced by the Scientific community and the Public at Large.

Where is the same level of scrutiny about man made global warming from others in the Scientific community? Where is the rigorous and open debate that should be expected around such an obviously ambiguous topic such as MMGW? I believe that those in the Scientific community who mislead and mis-represent their data and themselves to the public are as detestable as Priests who violate the trust of those they were are expected to protect. How the Scientific community as a whole has not already condemned the credibility is beyond me. What is equally baffling is the number of people that continue to believe the nonsense being uttered by these modern day snake oil salesmen. Al Gore is a charlatan to 10th Power. To quote one of my favorite spiritual leaders, “Who is more foolish? The Fool or the fool who follows him?” I look with incredulity at numbers of people who still want to believe.

In 2010, I think the only Man Made Global Warming is going to be the heat the Democrats feel this November.

You may Nike SB have not necessarily intended to do so, nevertheless I feel you might have was able to express the state of thoughts that a great deal of folks are in. The sense of wanting to aid, and not understanding how or exactly where, is some thing plenty of us are going through.

  6. cc says:

People, global warming does not necessarily mean you will feel warmer, it makes weather more extreme in general. Politics aside, until it can be proven that man has zero impact on climate, we should play it safe for future generations and make changes just in case. That’s common sense…

  7. billbee says:

i teach ecology at iowa state and have to agree with cc – doesnt matter how red blooded you are, too much carbon is a bad thing. and unless some opposing data is presented you just sound like an inconvenienced whiner. remember, it only took a 5 degree change to kill off the dinosaurs, so lets go folks, conservatives for conservation! even if it ends up being an earthly cycle, it would be plain stupid to not do our part as occupants of earth to keep the temperture optimal for our existence.

  8. alejandro says:

agreed, wegotta accept reality if were gonna win in ’12

  9. Bravo33 says:

@CC and billbee – A .8 degree temperature rise in 100 years means what? The history of the Earth has shown that life flourishes here when it gets warm. Historically, the planet was warmer many times than it is now and humanity has fared well during those times.

You propose that we take measures to reduce our carbon emission, and yet the cause of this ‘rise’ is inconclusive. You and your liberal/progressive/no labels supporters of AGW cannot provide data that is not flawed or a blatant fabrication when it comes to providing evidence of AGW. But you and your mentally deficient (but emotionally overloaded) ‘colleagues’ resort to disparaging comments about anyone who challenges your premise, even though it is YOU and your argument that lacks credibility.

You teach ecology??? I would NOT be admitting that after this absurd statement.
“doesnt matter how red blooded you are, too much carbon is a bad thing. and unless some opposing data is presented you just sound like an inconvenienced whiner.”
I would imagine that as a ‘teacher’ you would have some notion of how the scientific method works. Your statement tells me that you either know nothing of it, or you are intellectually disingenuous and have let your ideology cloud your judgment. Either way, your words or worthless.

“it would be plain stupid to not do our part as occupants of earth to keep the temperture optimal for our existence.”

This is a perfect example of the paradox of liberalism. You want to preserve the world in it’s ‘natural’ state with policies that label humans as the destroyer of the environment, and at the same time preach that humans should alter the environment to suit our needs.

I find your drama laced condescension amateurish and indicative of an intellect that is masking a lack of critical thinking and maturity.

@ Alejandro – Huh? Go back to sleep.

  10. argos says:

Bravo33 – the eaths temperature has never risen .8 since humans existed (Jones and A. Moberg (2003). , Journal of Climate, M.E. Mann, R.S. Bradley, and M.K. Hughes (1999). , Geophysical Research Letters, 26(6): 759-762.
    S. Huang (2004). , Geophys. Res Lett., 31: L13205.). It dropped .6 in 1600, dubbed the “little ice age” and made things miserable for humanity. I think the point being made by cc is that as the information IS inconclusive, we should prepare for the worst case scenario. You argue against science as if it’s reached a contrary conclusion. That’s called assumption.

This article is arguing to “go blue” before a blue state vs red state election.

    Idiotic

  13. agentO says:

yeah, and cause some wildfires have been caused by lightning, we should assume all wildfires are caused by lightning, and we should just let em burn, and stop wasting resources putting them out and then finding out after if they were man made or natural. yeah, lets do that.

  14. Bravo33 says:

Yeah, you’re right. Sorry. I’m just upset that a black man is president. I’m kind of a racist. But I’m working on it.

  15. Bravo33 says:

@ Argos – The comments made by cc and bilbee, et al (and likely you as well) have nothing to do with a meaningful conversation about global warming. The commentary posted by them is nothing more than trolling drivel intended to be condescending and antagonistic so spare me your interpretation and your flawed conclusion.

@ agentO – your analogy clearly illustrates that you are not very knowledgeable about global warming or wildfires for that matter. try again. yawn.

@ quickslvr – You’re stupid, aren’t you? It’s ok. I mean, seriously, you’re retarded but went to normal school with the normal kids anyway, right? Do you wear a helmet at home?

I find it very amusing that you juvenile trolls are trying to stir sh!t it up in a post nearly 2 years old. Is the political climate THAT bad for your ilk that you can’t find anything recent to get excited about so you troll the comments sections of archived articles? wow. i can’t imagine how pathetic your prepubescent lives must be…

    keep on trucking
