Has Obama resorted to blackmail?
So let me get this straight. Rep. Anh “Joseph” Cao, the lone Republican supporter of the Democrats health care bill, did so because President Obama called him Saturday and offered assurances that he “would help economic recovery in his district” if he voted for the Democrats health care plan.
Did I read that right?
Forget for a moment that this was a selfish move by Cao, as he previously told the Times-Picayune that “voting against the health care bill will probably be the death of my political career”, as a bigger question looms.
American citizens should be asking what President Obama would have done if Rep. Cao had voted against the health care bill. If Obama promised to help with ”economic recovery” should Cao chose to vote for the bill, isn’t it logical to assume that President Obama would not have helped with “economic recovery” should Cao have voted against the bill? Does this mean Obama would have left the citizens of Cao’s district out to dry? Is this a bribe or blackmail, using the poverty stricken citizens of Louisiana as leverage?
I am not making accusations here, but I charge that these questions not only need to be asked of Obama , but they demand a response with full explanations as well. I ask all citizens of our great nation: Is this the type of change that Americans hoped for, a President that is willing to abandon U.S. citizens if he doesn’t get what he wants?
This may even be worse than Chicago style politics. Thank God the 2010 elections are less than a year away.

These are the questions all of us should be asking one another. For too long we have been negligent in our responsibility as Americans to hold our “leaders” accountable!
Enough is enough! Email your representatives, call your Congressmen, become an uncomfortable and unsettling presence in their lives and make them listen to YOUR voices!
It is “We the People”, right? And they work for all of us, right? Hm.

Interesting question Crash! IS Cao the only one that was called OR was he the only one without a backbone? WHAT WAS it about him that prompted Obama to call? Cao is right, his career is over.
Vickie, we all have things we didn’t like about the last administration, but Bush stood by his principles and he did not waiver. What we need to focus on is THIS administration because it is a freight train full of toxic waste and we cannot stay focused enough on it with all of the fumes leaking out everywhere. Our concentrations had better be on what is happening now and what we can do to prevent it rather than going back ’cause our future is at stake right now!!
