I saw this article in The Wall Street Journal, (yes, I do actually read a newspaper now and again), and I wanted to use it as a springboard for this following tirade.
I am a true Independent, politically speaking. I am not dazzled by the GOP nor intimidated by the DNC. I do not endorse the GOP as it is today, because I believe it has strayed off-course ever since Reagan left office. I do not endorse the Democratic Party because I believe liberalism is a mental disease, spiritual bondage, and it is rooted in feministic emotionalism. As a True Conservative, I am supposed to align myself with the GOP, of course. The GOP is where all the cool Conservative kids hang-out. Hm. That would be true if I saw Conservatism in the GOP as a real tangible quality. The GOP lost my last bit of regard when it nominated John McCain as their man for the 2008 Presidential Election. Even Sarah Palin couldn’t save that sinking ship.
I’m so not alone in this train of thought. Many GOP folks have left that Party, because, (as I have heard it said), …the Party has left me. I watch, outside this box, as more and more Conservatives are facing their disillusionment with the GOP and looking towards an untainted form of Conservatism that isn’t bound up in political doctrines or dogmas. Like myself, they are looking at Independent Political Thought, but with a Conservative foundation and backbone.
I cannot cite exact numbers, but it it obvious that these TEA Party folks have a Conservative slant. Are there Democrats there, in those crowds? Sure. This really is not about the GOP, it is about America. People with common-sense “get this”. I am hoping that if you are reading this, that you “get it”, too.
The GOP is not being hurt by Conservatism. The GOP is not being hurt by TEA Partiers. The GOP is being hurt by itself, and its inability to root out the RINOs who have only served to mock the once Grand Old Party.
If only the GOP would come home, and be THE Conservative movement it used to be. Until then, let the TEA Partiers do their thing.

Well said!!! Principles before parties! Values before Vanities! The EtchaSketch that is DC should have the hogsnot shook outta it. Kick all the bums out and fill it with people of integrity that truly represent WE the PEOPLE. The 9-12/Tea Partiy groups are full of just regular folks fed up with all the BS and I’m proud to call them my friends, neighbors and peers.
