I would say it was Abraham Lincoln. DC is not for poor people. It is for the wealthy and, as Bush put it, "the have-mores". One more reason why this "us and them" mentality is going to tear this Nation apart. Liberalism needs the poor to keep its voter base. The GOP cannot relate to the poor because it doesn't believe in poverty as an acceptable way to live. So where do the poor find a voice? When was the last time we had a President or any “politician” who came from poverty?
