Glenn Beck gets it, and I do too!

glenn_beck_america_2014For several weeks, I have been hearing a lot of noise about how Glenn Beck is damaging the Republican Party, hurting conservatism, or as Graham put it, “doesn’t represent the Republican party.”  Beck has been said to have called Obama a “racist”, said the president has a “deep seated hatred for white people”, and America is “better off” with Barack Obama than John McCain.

I will admit, after hearing all this, I paused myself for a few moments and thought “what the heck is Beck doing?”  Is he going to divide the GOP to the end that we have a Ross Perot effect in the upcoming elections?  WOW…this can’t be good.

However, after a few seconds, common sense sunk in.

First, let’s clear the air a little on the “calling President Obama a racist” claim.  Beck did not “call” the president a racist. Period!  Beck said, “This guy, I believe, is a racist”.  He did not claim that Obama “hates white people”, he said “I think” he has a “hatred” for white people.  These statements are not charges or false claims of fact, but merely opinions.

Let’s put that to rest, shall we?

Moving on to the issue of hurting conservatism and lack of representation of the Republican party.  Peter Wehner of commentarymagazine.com sums up that idea best:

“I say that because he [Beck] seems to be more of a populist and libertarian than a conservative, more of a Perotista than a Reaganite. His interest in conspiracy theories is disquieting… His argument that there is very little difference between the two parties is silly, and his contempt for parties in general is anti-Burkean (Burke himself was a great champion of political parties)… Beck seems to be a roiling mix of fear, resentment, and anger—the antithesis of Ronald Reagan.”

“But the role Glenn Beck is playing is harmful in its totality. My hunch is that he is a comet blazing across the media sky right now—and will soon flame out. Whether he does or not, he isn’t the face or disposition that should represent modern-day conservatism. At a time when we should aim for intellectual depth, for tough-minded and reasoned arguments, for good cheer and calm purpose, rather than erratic behavior, he is not the kind of figure conservatives should embrace or cheer on.”

While I understand what Mr. Wehner is trying to say, as well as many other republican bloggers and news outlets, I vehemently disagree.  Beck is not harmful to the conservative movement; he is actually building it back up.

Why did the GOP lose the last election?  You can blame it on the power of ACORN and George Soros, the use of technology by the left, voter fraud, or even a poor campaign by John McCain.  However, during an election year when conservatives out numbered liberals by a 2-to-1 margin, only one reason stood true…conservatives no longer believed in the Republican Party.  As a result, a large number of conservatives doubled down on “Hope and Change”, and the democrats won.  We beat ourselves.

Many republicans no longer believe the GOP represents conservative values, the trust was broken, and so they sought leadership in the other side that presented a fresh, bold, new face.  Liberals and independents, who typically believe in conservative principles, were duped by a misleading campaign that promised representation of Middle America, the heart of conservatism.  Ten months into an administration where the Democratic Party controls the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches, Americans are feeling betrayed…again.

This may be the GOP’s only chance at redemption.

Millions of conservative Americans are looking for inspiration, trust and belief.  They lost belief in the GOP during the last administration, and they are losing trust in the current one at a rapid rate, and we are desperate for a leader to inspire us.  That is why Sarah Palin’s popularity continues to grow.

Although the elections of 2010 and 2012 seem like a lifetime away, they will be here before we know it.  Is it any wonder why President Obama has stayed in campaign mode?

Make no mistake about it, in order to preserve the U.S. Constitution, freedom, liberty, the safety of our nation, and the security of our children’s future, there is only one mission:  Beat the liberal, socialist machine!

The strategy is simple; bring conservatives home by exposing the RINO’s (Republicans in name only) and putting conservative leadership back in the GOP.  If that means voting out republicans who do not act and vote with conservative values, to put new blood in that will remain true, so be it.  If that means Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Olympia Snowe and the Cap-and-Trade eight are out of a job after their next elections, so be it.  Give me veterans, hockey/soccer moms, small business owners, religion and gun clinging conservatives, and watch our party grow.  We will see America flourish once again.

To do this, we have to weed out the trash that has polluted the Republican Party, and replant seeds that are pure and untainted.  Accomplish this feat, and the conservative republicans, liberals, independents and democrats (yes, there are more than you realize), all will come home to their conservative roots.  Time is of the essence, we have a little more than one year [update:  less than a year now] before the first major battle ends on November 6, 2010.  There is no time to sugar coat the situation.  We must alienate and expose certain members of the GOP who refuse to remain true to conservative principles.  We cannot play nice just for public perception.  We need actions and a sense of urgency:  The clock is ticking!

Glenn Beck is one of the few who gets this.  And buddy, if you read this, I do too!

Glen Beck has never said he was a Republican, the flying monkey, Dunn said that. Continue to say just enough of the truth, say it long enough, loud enough, and soon people are repeating it. Glen Beck is like the prophet who is never honored in his own country — what he has to say is cutting and to the point — those who hide in the dark and hatch their evil plans do not like it when their schemes are exposed to the light and revealed to the public for what they are — thats why we are so lucky we don’t live in Bible times, Glen would have been stoned and his body thrown out side of the city’s walls by now — and the ruler would have gone on his merry way killing, having orgies, and enslaving the populace.

It is so nice to see that there are people out there who have similar beliefs and feelings about this administration, and the attempted destruction of our republic. Thank you for being a voice for us!

For me I am glad that Glenn Beck is someone who is finally saying what I am thinking. I have had my tail between my legs for years because of liberal bullying and political correctness crap. Finally a voice in the wilderness. Let’s get behind the movement of Conservatives and who cares what they call us. If the Republicans can sweep out the corruption then I can forgive but never forget. It’s time for liberals to start running scared for a change. Speak with boldness.

  7. truthjunkie2 says:

Glenn is just looking for the truth, wherever he may find it. He’s not looking for a label for himself or to fit in anywhere. If he said something in the past that he now finds to be a mistake that he made, he admits it and explains why he changed his mind. This is a brave thing to do that very few are able to do. He is an example of a person who is free in thought. He loves freedom and he loves people and he only wants everyone to know and enjoy freedom. It is fundamental. He is not right about everything, but, he doesn’t care to be. He just wants to be free. and that also means free to be wrong. free to learn from one’s mistakes.

We need more Glenn Becks. God bless him!!

  9. alex says:

You use the English language to argue your point but it’s a complete non-argument:

“Beck did not “call” the president a racist. Period! Beck said, “This guy, I believe, is a racist”. He did not claim that Obama “hates white people”, he said “I think” he has a “hatred” for white people.

    Definition of “call”:
“2 a : to speak of or address by a specified name : give a name to b : to regard or characterize as of a certain kind”

    Definition of “claim”:
“to assert in the face of possible contradiction”
    (from Webster Dictionary)

This is exactly what Glenn Beck did (backed up by his quotes, which you don’t even adequately quote, and the definitions of the words you call out above) so why even bother arguing otherwise? Political alliances aside, I couldn’t even take the rest of your article seriously after reading that failed (and childish) logic.

  10. Josh says:

    Alex,

Seems to me that it would be “childish” to attack something that you “can’t take seriously”. You took the time to research definitions and post a comment. Sounds like you took it pretty serious to me.

Sometimes, the truth just hurts…but that is okay, your argument was a noble, but failed attempt.

Yes, stand up JJJ. Freedom is not cheap and those who don’t hold it in high regard “may” soon learn to appreciate it. And maybe even say…”You told me so”. I don’t think the changes that are coming are the changes they really thought about. Here…have another sip, put your colored tennis shoes on and close your eyes. Shhhhh…..

Thank you beloved Vets. “Veterans Day” is now posted on http://consciousobserverjeff.blogspot.com/ As Well As “Get Well Glenn Beck” As well as “Viva America-Tribute To our Military”. Stand up America, our finest hour is yet to come…

Love your country or try another one….. You’ll see. And then you’ll ask to come back.
