The AP just released a report that involves potential health issues of 1,200 U.S. soldiers involved in the rebuilding of a Iraqi water treatment plant in Iraq. The report claims that the soldiers were exposed to sodium dichromate, a potential carcinogen.

Symptoms from exposure include “chest pain to lung disease and even death among troops who served there have been blamed on exposure at the site.

A tracking system has been requested by the military to record health problems of those affected by the exposure. If you served at the Iraqi water treatment plan Qarmat Ali near Basra, Iraq, you might consider contacting your local VA Regional Office.
