To be blunt, President Obama is screwing up the war in Afghanistan, and our troops have been, and will continue to pay the price. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, Obama’s top military commander in Afghanistan wrote a 66 page report that outlined the details of the war effort, and what needs to be done to command a successful campaign. This is not the first time that top officials informed the President that additional troops are needed.
In summary, Gen. McChrystal pulled Obama to the plate and told him that without additional troops, the U.S. military efforts in Afghanistan would fail. As reported by the Associated Press, the General wrote in a five page summary to the President, “Although considerable effort and sacrifice have resulted in some progress, many indicators suggest the overall effort is deteriorating.”
President Obama, our [in-effective] Commander-in-Chief, is not listening. How else could you explain his continued reluctance to address the issue? As the President continues to put his decision on the back burner, our troops will continue to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Please join me and continue to pray for our troops, they need all the help they can get. As this administration consistantly thinks that they can “talk” their way out of everything, inaction will have a heavy price that our troops will continue to pay. The President seems too concerned about pushing his “campaign” for health care and showing up on our T.V. every chance he gets, than spending quality time, behind closed doors, with those who know military strategy.
These are not just people dressed up in camouflaged uniforms with a gun strapped to their backs. They are red blooded, American citizens. They are mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters. They are sons and daughters. They are the heroes who continue to fight, every day, for the freedoms that we enjoy with every breath we take.
Just remember, we you wake up in your comfortable bed every morning, they spend their sleepless days and nights, wondering around knowing that there is a bullet or mortar shell out there with their name on it.
That’s a feeling this President has never known. Perhaps it is the main reason for his indecision!

Makes sense to me that after the fiasco of an election that they had in August, and their inability to gain legitimacy in September, the Afghan central government’s role in any strategy moving forward must be reviewed.
In terms of “paying the ultimate price” while waiting: in 2008 there were less then 10 us casualties per month in Afghanistan. Contrast that with 45,000 us deaths per year attributed to persons who die due to lack of health insurance. Certainly both issues need to be addressed, but where should we dedicate the most rapid solution?
Why does there have to be a choice between the two? Shouldn’t our president be able to handle both at the same time?
By the way, 43 soilders died in September. That’s 43 soliders that have died since the General asked for more troops and Obama is just now getting around to it.
