Obama could not sustain speech bounce over health care reform

Yesterday, Political Integrity Now reported on the significant, yet expected, rise in Obama’s approval numbers and public support of his health care reform plan.  Ramussen reports:

Following President Obama’s speech to Congress last week, support for his health care reform plan increased steadily to a peak of 51% yesterday. However, the bounce appears to be over. The latest daily tracking shows that support has fallen all the way back to pre-speech levels.

Forty-five percent (45%) of all voters nationwide now favor the plan while 52% are opposed. A week ago, 44% supported the proposal and 53% were opposed. (see day-by-day numbers).

As reported earlier by PIN, history shows that a party-line bounce is to be expected after a presidential address.  The result of Obama’s Wednesday night speech is no different.  The left wing media will continue to portray it as a monumental shift, and discredit those in opposition.  However, with the Republicans standing firm, the Independents continuing to withdraw, and the Obama administration’s insistence on dismissing the efforts of the Tea Party movement, Americans will continue to rise up against a corrupt, fiscally irresponsible government that continues to plow its way to socialism.

However, PIN did not anticipate the fall back to pre-speech numbers would be so rapid.  In fact, the quick drop only further supports the notion that Americans no longer buy into President Obama’s rhetoric, or manufactured passion for the American people.  Obama appeared to soften his stance on the public option, which has some democrats, such as Charlie Rangel, concerned.

The AP reports Congressman Rangel said “the restrictions that the president has given in his speech as well as the proposed discussions in the Senate has caused us more problems.”

Dick Morris claims this strategy is nothing more than a “trap”.  On last night’s Hannity, Morris claimed Obama is planning it to look like this in order to retreat later, sell America on the notion that he is willing to compromise to gain support for either the “trigger” or “Co-op”.  Both would open the door to a Public Option down the road, the Ultimate goal!
