There have been repeated claims by the White House, president Obama himself, and various Democrats describing Republicans as “the party of ‘no’ while offering no solutions of their own.” This is simply not true and Political Integrity Now would like to set the record straight. As House GOP leader Boehner told reporters today, the president has not invited House GOP leaders to the White House for meetings on health care reform since the end of April. This is particularly important because 9 Republicans sent a letter to Barack Obama on May 13, 2009, outlining key areas of agreement, indicating a willingness to work together for bipartisan reform, and most importantly requesting a meeting with the president to discuss the issues.
Political Integrity Now will post Obama’s response as soon as we obtain it. Look for updates to this article. In a conference call with bloggers today, the Whip Group said that the White House response was essentially, “thanks, but no thanks.” No meeting ever occurred and no real bipartisan efforts have been allowed to move forward.
