Seven months into his presidency, Obama is still heavy into campaign mode. Although we have a serious war going on in Afghanistan in which the top commander in the region continues to ask for an additional 40,000 troops or more, Obama found a way to put off addressing that situation, and find time to hit the media circuit this weekend. But Afghanistan is another issue that you can read about later.
While our troops were on the back burner and a 66 page report submitted by Gen. Stanley McChrystal collects dust, Obama found time to visit with David Letterman during his five network tour. During the discussion, Obama spewed the same untrue message that the $787 billion stimulus plan worked by acting as a “tourniquet” that stopped the bleeding. According to the President, had the economic stimulus plan not been passed, another 1.5 million jobs, or more, would have been lost. Letterman, like most of his liberal counterparts, did not challange the Presidents numbers. Instead, Obama got another free pass in which he did not have to back his claim with facts.
Had the president done an interview with Fox News, he surely would have been asked to back up his claims. Fox knows this, the public knows this, and the President knows this, which is precisely the reason he does not have the courage to do an interview with the Fox network.
