Ms. Palin made up the term "death panels" to scare the public. At the time she first coined the phrase, she was implying that the health care bill in its then current form had contained government panels that would make life or death decisions about whether or not to treat her autistic child. This was of course completely false. My agreement with you is that having made up death panels herself, she can't really be lying about them. They are her own fantastic creation. She should be able to say whatever she wants to about them. I do, however think it is irresponsible to talk about them in the context of the health care reform bill that is trying to make its way through congress. I also agree with you the Ms. Palin is a strong political force, and is unlikely to just fade into the background anytime soon. Imagine how productive she could have been if instead of lobbing this lie at the health care bill - she brought it up as an important subject that we "have to get right" in whatever bill is finally past.
